An Evaluation of Parameter Weights that Create the Typical Meteorological Years for Analyzing Building Energy Consumption
In this paper whether the Typical Meteorological Year (TMY) created from different parameter weights affects the building energy consumption results is analyzed.Typical Meteorological Months (TMMs) have been obtained by broad combination of parameter weights.TMMs always centralize one or some years in one month. The probability of the same TMM as the original US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) TMM is always high.Energy consumption of different TMMs using EnergyPlus is analyzed. It is found that energy consumption difference between TMMs in one month is small and acceptable. In the energy consumption figures, the TMMs from the US NREL weight combinations typically appear in the middle of a given month. The yearly energy consumption of 2,160 grouped weight combinations is also analyzed. It is found that the energy differences are small enough to be acceptable. This research demonstrates that the US NREL parameter weights are representative, and can be used for determining the TMY.
