Discussion of Economic Valuation on Wetland Ecosystem
Multifunctional ecosystem represents natural capital upon which our economy depends for the production of many goods and services.Being highly productive,biologically rich and providing many ecological services,wetlands are particularly important to both biodiversity and the economy.This paper,discussed the wetland valuation by demand and utility theory,pointed out wetlands are multi-functional resources,Not only do they supply us with a number of important resource outputs (e.g.,fish,fuel wood,wildlife),but they also perform an unusually large number of ecological functions which support economic activity..Therefore,valuing the economic benefits of wetlands can help set priorities.Valuation can also be used to consider the publics values of wetland systems and encourage public participation in certain initiatives.
