The Effect of Seasonal Seed Transfer on Tree Population*
Trees reproduce by making seeds. Most seed transfer is seasonal. A single-species population model for tree seeds seasonal transferring between two forest patches is presented. Using the discrete dynamical system determined by the stroboscopic map and the method of Lyapunov function, we obtain an exact positive periodic solution of the system which is globally asymptotically stable. This indicates seed transfer between two patches is necessary to prevent species in a weak environment patch from extinction and contribute to the recovery of species already imperiled.
seed transfer stroboscopic map globally asymptotically stable.
