Analysis on Characteristics of Groundwater Isotopes in Yinchuan Plain
The results of groundwater isotopic analysis showed that the groundwater in the Yinchuan Plain had different recharge patterns, The phreatic water in the proluvial fan of the Helan Mountain was mainly recharged by precipitation and the lateral flow from the Helan Mountain; while the phreatic water in the proluvial fan and the alluvial plain of the Qingtongxia Gorge was mainly recharged by infiltration of irrigation water from the Yellow giver. In the natural state, the confined water belonged to paleo-water which had been recharged from the ancient geological time, with very slow circulation, but in the urban area where groundwater is exploited persistently, large volume of new water entered the confined aquifers, and the proportion of recharge from the upper phreatic water accounted for 50%.Aiming at the different hydrogeological conditions and water circulation characteristics in the Yinchuan Plain, the paper suggested some corresponding measures for rational development of groundwater resources.
