Simulation and Optimization of the Lifting Mechanism of a Dump Truck

Using virtual prototyping, the virtual prototype model of the forward-push linkage combined lifting mechanism of a dump truck is established and simulated in ADAMS. The parameters such as lifting force, interference angle are analyzed. In order to obtain better lifting performance, the design variables are selected, and the optimization simulation is done. The optimization result shows that the lifting force of hydraulic cylinder reduce about 16% compared with the original value in the same condition (cargo weight, constraints). In order to maker user design lifting mechanism easier, the Graphic User Interface of design and optimization of Lifting mechanism is developed, which realize the visualization design. The application of virtual prototyping in product development can improve product quality, shorten development cycle, and reduce costs.
