Natural stone is a natural resource that deeply contribute to the development of the western civility. The Historical stones largely were used in the monument, city and artefact resemble a cultural heritage and their and their exploitation must be studied and left to posterity in order not to loose their memory. In this paper we present the principles of use of the natural stone by which we can study and analysed it and a selection of natural stone use in the ancient Syria which represented the western side of the Silk Road,a junction for culture, trade and civility exchange between the Classic Mediterranean World and the China. For that purpose we present a few case histories:Halabyah,Palmyra,Umm E1 Jamal,Jerash,Qsar Bashir,Petra. All these sites were along the Via Nova Traiana,on the eastern boundary of the Roman Empire facing the desert, which connected Egypt and Arabia with the Silk Road.
