The generation of quasi-balanced incomplete block design
Balanced Incomplete Block Design (BIBD) is one type design often used practically. In many parameter configures, BIBD is not existed. Therefore those designs which nearly maintain the requirements of BIBD have much value in practicality. We call these types designs quasi-balanced incomplete block designs (QBIBD). Besides of the general property of BIBD itself, the orthogonality and the separability between treatment and carryover are also expected. This paper gives one algorithm to generate comparatively optimal QBIBD simultaneously considering the effects of period, treatment and carryover. The optimality is in the meaning of separability. The generated designs are extremely simple for statistical inference. The algorithm is illustrated via examples.
