Sound Insulation Performance of Gypsum-board Walls by Various Influence Factors
This study identified several factors that influence the sound insulation performance of gypsum-board walls, and presented the results. It selected eight different structures wherein changes in the sound insulation performance were measured and observed according to the method used in attaching gypsum boards, stud intervals, screw intervals, curing time of the plaster, thickness of the gypsum board and changes in the mixing ratio of the gypsum board. As a result, the sound insulation performance dropped 3dB in the structure with a gypsum board attached by bond. Also,as the stud intervals were placed wider and screw intervals were also wider, the sound insulation performance improved. It was observed that as the surface weight of the gypsum board changed, the sound insulation performance in the high frequency also changed.
