Influence of Organic Fertilizer Fermented by EM on Growth and Yield of Paddy Rice

In order to evaluate the effect of organic fertilizer fermented by effective microorganism (EM)on growth and yield of paddy rice and the optimal dose of organic fertilizer, field experiments were carried out with different dose of organic fertilizer (7.5,15,30,45,75 and 105t/hm2 respectively). The results showed that the tiller number increased with the applied dose of organic fertilizer, but ratio of productive tillers decreased, and the most optimal dose of organic fertilizer to realize the ideal population structure is 30~45t/hm2 organic fertilizer. The yield of paddy rice acquires the maximum when 45t/hm2 organic fertilizer was applied;it was increased by 52.5% and 16.7% compared with Check A(non-fertilizer application) and Check B(traditional chemical fertilizer),and more or less of organic fertilizer dose will cause the reduction of yield.Yield reduction was attributed to the inability of satisfying the requirement of rice growth with less organic fertilizer dose application, and this is attributed to the green remains and unreasonable distribution of dry matter caused by imbalance of vegetative growth and reproductive growth with more organic fertilizer dose application.Analysis of yield component illustrates that high productive tillers, high grains per ear and high thousand kernel weight were realized when 45t/hm2 of organic fertilizer was applied.Yield reduction was caused by less grains per ear with less organic fertilizer dose application, and by high ratio of shriveled grains, low thousand kernel weight and ratio of grain to straw was caused by green remains and unreasonable distribution of dry matter. It is suggested that proper organic fertilizer fermented by EM can enhance growth and promote yield of paddy rice, but a lot of organic fertilizer will cause yield reduction because of the imbalance of vegetative growth and reproductive growth.
