Quality Water Production Function of Urban Greenbelts
The efficient use of water is becoming an important problem due to increasing irrigation water requirements and environmental interest. However, research on water input on turfgrass nowadays focuses on water requirement and its rules on individual plant, but a fact would not be ignored that it is unnecessary to apply water on turfgrass according to water requirement rules, but irrigate with a threshold or a low critical water requirement based on the expectation of quality for a turfgrass.Development of urban turfgrass has specific aim, which is communitys expectation to turfgrass quality. Thus,it is essential to study the relationship between turfgrass quality and water input in order to solve water consumption on urban greenbelt. In this paper,a concept of turfgrass quality water production would be developed in the base of crop water production function. The function takes irrigation water as input and turfgrass quality as output.Acceptable water input could be determined based on the requirement of the desired turfgrass quality, and this model could provide manual for optimal irrigation schedule and reach the objective of water-saving in practical irrigation.
