Elliptic Motions of Driving-end in Modal Conversion Ultrasonic Motors
The modal conversion ultrasonic motor utilizes a mode conversion to obtain the two vibration modes from a single source.If the two harmonic vibrations forced with different motion directions have different phase,the synthesized particle motion can be made elliptic.There exist different kinds of MCUM.It can be divided into two kinds according to the principle of elliptic motion.One is the use of a modal conversion coupler,which maybe couple between the stator and the rotor or have an independent coupler.The other is the use of the local mode of the substructure in the main structure.This paper discusses the scheme of elliptic motions in these modal conversion ultrasonic motors,and introduces a new modal conversion using electrical excitation.
