A Method for Improving the Performances of ultrasonic motors using intermittent contact scheme
Most of ultrasonic motors are operating in intermittent contact scheme.Their stators drive the rotors (or sliders) when the stators contact the rotors, and the rotors (or sliders) move in themselves inertia when the stators and the rotors separate. The duty cycle of the contact and the flight manages motorsoutput force and velocity. To obtain a large output force or output velocity,a concept using alternative work of multi-stator or multi-driving-end of single-stator was proposed in this paper, which avoids that a larger noise, poor efficiency and lifetime of motor using a larger pre-pressure for larger output force and that a smaller amplitude of stator using a higher operating frequency for improving the performances.A novel linear ultrasonic motor using alternative work of multi-driving-end of single-stator was manufactured and investigated experimentally. Its traveling speed without load of the slider is 88mm/s and its maximum load is 0.32N.
