Transducer with two driving tips for high speed and large thrust force linear ultrasonic motor
A transducer for linear ultrasonic motor with two driving tips has been proposed and designed.The transducer is made of two vibrators bolted to the head-block which has two driving tips.It has two vibration modes:one is a symmetrical mode and the other is anti-symmetric.The anti-symmetrical mode is excited when two anti-phase driving voltages are applied to the two vibrators and the symmetrical mode is excited when two in-phase driving voltages are applied.The lateral motion of the transducer tips is excited by the symmetrical mode.The directions of the lateral motion of the tips are contrary each other.The normal direction motion of the tips is excited by the anti-symmetrical mode.The directions of the normal motion of the tips are also contrary each other.The transducer is designed so that thesevibration modes are degenerated.Materials were carefully selected to obtain high output force and high speed.High strength chromium manganese steel bolts were used for binding the PZT elements.The head block was made from Duralumin.Two alumina ceramics plate were bonded on the transducer tips as frictional material.The no-load maximum speed was 0.95m/sec.The output force was 10 N and the velocity was 0.5m/sec at the driving voltage of 200 Vrms and the preload of 70 N.At this conditions the maximum output force was 16 N,which was 22 times of the transducer weight.The maximum output power per unit weight was 83W/kg.
