Research on a novel Inertial Linear Piezoelectric motor
A novel inertial linear piezoelectric motor combining the converse piezoelectric effect and the principle of inertial displacement was studied. This motor has two parts:a stator and a mobile element. The stator consists of a displacement enlargement element,a multilayer piezoelectric actuator and a shaft adhered to the displacement enlargement element. The mobile element is a ring with a gap and an annular flute. The radial displacement of the piezoelectric element can be amplified by the displacement enlargement element in the axial direction. The mobile element moves along the shaft by the friction or the inertial force. This paper introduced the running principle of the motor detailed and analyzed the effect of two exciting modes on the performance of the motor through the simulation and the experiment. The maximum no-load speed of the prototype achieve 11mm·s-1 and the largest output force achieve 0.5N in the case of the operation voltage 45Vpp,driving frequency 80 kHz.
