Economic Type of Sprinkler and Drip Irrigation
The Yuyao Municipality is located in the northeast of Zhejiang Province.Since 2000,the economic type of sprinkler and drip system have been studied in this municipality.There are many innovations of the sprinkler and drip techniques.They included the replace steel pipe with PE pipe,to use river network for substituting the main pipe,to replace pumping station with movable pumping set as well as to adopt small scale irrigation area,and fixed main pipe and movable branch and laterals.All these have reduced cost to 917 $/ha,only half of the conventional system cost.The economic type of sprinkler and drip have been used for irrigation of bamboo shoots,pear tree,grape,water melon,vegetable and flower,etc.The area covered land was 1,541ha at the end of 2005.The income has been increased to 774 $/ha.This technique has also been used for lowering temperature of the chicken and rabbit farms and welcomed by the farmers.
