The development of Strategic Environmental Assessment in China
China is one of the first developing countries to implement a construction project environmental impact assessment system. After more than 30 years of experience, the environmental protection industry has been continuously enriched and improved, and EIA is playing an increasingly important role in the countrys sustainable development. The paper is based on research conducted recently using literature and documentary analysis, and some official Chinese declarations. It describes the SEA development process in China and provides some reasonable and feasible policy recommendations.
