3D Force Measurements of Households Compressors
Sound quality is an important parameter in refrigerators.For example,consumers do not want to pay attention to it while reading or listening music.To increase refrigerator sound quality it is important to understand how the compressor and the refrigerator interact.When mounted on a cooling system,the compressor exerts forces on the system through its four grommets and the discharge and suction tubes.These forces become part of the noise that customers hear.This paper presents a three dimensional force measurement bench,its construction and some results.It uses eighteen force transducers,three for each grommet and three for suction tube and three for discharge tube.Three dimensional forces on the grommets and tubes can be measured up to 4 kHz simultaneously while the compressor is running and also in start and stop.Forces on an Embracos compressor for R600 LBP cooling system is presented as results.The results show a huge influence of the force low frequency range on the refrigerator noise.This force bench is an important tool to evaluate the coupling between the fridge and the compressor,and could help in understand the best match between them.
