An Investigation of Flow Leakage in Water Hydraulic Vane Pump

Water hydraulic systems have become more interest because of the environment friendly and safety in recent years.Compared with oil medium,the main disadvantage of pure water is low viscosity.Low viscosity means high leakage and poor lubrication.So there are more stringent requirements for clearances and materials of pure water hydraulic elements.This paper presents a mathematics model to investigate flow leakage by using pure water as working medium in a double action vane pump.The relation of the leakage flux and clearances is discussed through the numerical simulation.The result can be used in design of the construction of water hydraulic components.
