Stability analysis and width determination of small chain coal pillar in fully mechanized sublevel caving face
In order to increase the coal recovery rate, the small coal pillar technology is often applied in the panel roadway layout with a top coal caving face.Because the pillar size is narrow, there is one heavier mining effect on it,and the tail entry distorts heavily. So the key problem is if the coal pillar is stable. The pillar width is one important factor of stability. In this paper based on theoretical analysis and in situ monitoring,by using the roof structure model analysis above the coal pillar, the side and advanced abutment stress distribution feature is studied. Then the failure law of coal pillar is analyzed and the scope where the pillar can be stable is calculated. Therefore the relationship between pillar width and factors is built up.The principles of rational pillar width are also provided. After filed application the method and principle of determining pillar width is proved effective, the coal pillar is stable, and the technological and economic result is gained.
