COLLAPSE ANALYSIS OF RETICULATED SHELL SUBJECTED TO FIRE ATTACK

The structural responses of a reticulated shell subjected to a fire are actively analyzed in this study. The analytical model suggested by the European Convention for Constructional Steelwork (ECCS) is utilized to determine the Youngs modulus and yield strength of steel material. The differential equation of heat transfer is numerically solved based on finite element method (FEM) for exploring the temperature fields of steel components. The collapse process of the reticulated shell subjected to fire attack is analyzed by using the nonlinear FEM. The analytical observations indicate that the force-bearing capacity of the shell will dramatically reduce with the increasing material temperature and the entire shell will eventually collapse due to the loss of member strength.
