STATISTICAL ANALYSIS ON THE TYPHOON WIND CHARACTERISTICS OF A GUYED MAST
The statistical evaluation on the typhoon wind characteristics of a guyed mast by using both propeller anemometer and ultrasonic anemometer is carried out in this study. A 50m high guyed mast is taken as example to be installed with anemometers for collecting the samples of typhoon winds. The configuration of the guyed mast and the placement of the instrumentation are presented. The mathematical transformation for propeller anemometer and anemometer is carried out. The information of four typhoon events, lmbudo, Krovanh, Dujuan and Kompasu are collected by using the instrumentation. The hourly mean wind speed and direction of the four typhoon winds colleted by both propeller and ultrasonic anemometers are statistically determined and compared. The observations demonstrate that the wind characteristics at different levels are basically close to each other.
