ANALYSIS AND COMPARISON ON THE WIND STABILITY OF CABLE-SUPPORTED BRIDGES
The cable-supported bridge is a kind of structural system suitable for long and particularly super long-span bridges. Besides the traditional cable-stayed and suspension bridge, as a new cooperative system of cable-supported bridges, the cable-stayed-suspension hybrid bridge is frequently proposed in many sea-crossing bridges. Due to their great flexibility, cable-supported bridges are very susceptible to the wind action. By taking the suspension bridge, cable-stayed bridge and cable-stayed-suspension hybrid bridge with main span of 1400 m as examples, the dynamic characteristics, aerostatic and aerodynamic stability are investigated by 3D nonlinear aerostatic and aerodynamic analysis. The results show that as compared to the other two kind of cable-supported bridges, the cable-stayed-suspension hybrid bridge has greater structural stiffness and better wind stability, and becomes very suitable for long and particularly super long-span bridges.
