Study on high performance inlet and discharge valves of linear compressor

The linear compressor is a new type of high performance compressor which is driven by linear motor,rather than by a rotary motor coupled to a conversion mechanism as in a conventional reciprocating compressor.Its free piston structure makes the volume control be convenient;however it is difficult to stably control the piston stroke,top clearance distance and piston equilibrium position to avoid striking the discharge valve.Because the piston stroke is influenced by the work condition and load to become uncertain,and piston could strike the discharge valve plate,so the stationary valves of the conventional reciprocating compressor have been not applied to the linear compressor.A discharge valve structure with free valve plate and suction valve are presented in order to improve the working stability of linear compressor.These valves can effectively decrease the suction and discharge noise,improve the efficiency,and avoid the piston striking the discharge valve plate.The inlet and discharge valves influenced the reliability,durability and efficiency of linear compressor,and its parameters should be choosed carefully to achieve higher performance.In order to study the movement characteristics of valves and P-V diagram,to decide the optimum design parameters and to confirm valves operation theoretically,the theoretical model of the suction and discharge was established,and the dynamic analysis of structural parts was carried out.Because the linear compressors moving-magnet has very high magnetic filed,and the discharge valve chamber is very narrow,so the conventional displacement measurements have not been applied.In this paper,a new type measurement of the P-V diagram and movement regularity of valve plate was presented and carried out.An experimental device on measuring the movement regularity of discharge valve plate and compressor chamber pressure was built,and the theoretical and experimental researches were carried out to the key parameters that influenced the operating characteristic and performance of the discharge and inlet valves.The theoretical and experimental results show that the simulation results give well agreement with experimental results,and the valve plates displacement is influenced by the spring force,when the spring force increases,the valve plates displacement decreases.To the discharge valve,loss of discharge pressure and volume are influenced by the spring force and the plate mass.To the inlet valve being reed structure,loss of inlet pressure and volume are influenced by the equivalent spring stiffness.The optimum parameters can be acquired by numerical simulating the discharge and inlet valves.
