MODELING AND APPLICATION OF GPR DETECTION TECHNOLOGY IN REINFORCED CONCRETE DEFECTS TESTING

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) has been widely applied in civil engineering and environmental detection as a high resolution and efficient non destructive testing (NDT) method. In this paper, the FDTD (Finite Difference Time Domain) method was used to simulate the GPR detection of the defects in the reinforced concrete. The author success of simulating the cracks echo signals in reinforced concrete by the FDTD method. Through examples of GPR forward model echo signals of cracks in the reinforced concrete by 2-D FDTD method, the characteristics of horizontal, vertical and oblique direction cracks echo signal by the simulation model is clearly. At last, through actual measurement of the GPR profile of reinforced concrete, the author has done comparison of the actual measurement and simulation results.
