EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATIONS ON SEISMIC BEHAVIOR OF A LONGITUDINAL ENERGY DISSIPATION BRACED FRAME

The seismic behavior of a longitudinal energy dissipation braced frame in the major workshop of a thermal power plant is studied in this paper. A 1/8 scale structural model is constructed for pseudo-static earthquake response tests. After investigating the performance of the lead extrusion dampers, the hysteretic performance of the model structure is analyzed. The coefficient of energy dissipation is then calculated, which indicates that the model structure has good energy dissipation capacity. Based on the performance analysis, it is verified that the effects of the energy dissipation braces increase with the increase of the model structural deformation. In addition, the ground floor is found to be the weak story of the energy dissipation braced frame structure. The distribution of the horizontal shear force between frame and energy dissipation braces is further obtained to provide a reference for structural design. Finally, some suggestions are put forward to improve structural seismic behavior and energy dissipation.
