SEISMIC MITIGATION OF MACHINERY BUILDING BY USING PIEZOELECTRIC MOMENT CONTROLLER
The feasibility of using piezoelectric moment controller to mitigate the transversal dynamic responses of the machinery building is actively carried out in this study. The mechanical model of piezoelectric actuator is first presented and the configuration of the piezoelectric moment controller is then introduced. The control forces produced by the moment controller are deduced by taking the variation of section stiffness into consideration. The equation of motion of the machinery building incorporated with moment controller disturbed by seismic excitations is established for the transversal vibration. The active control of the seismic responses of the machinery structure with moment controller is thereby carried out. The observations demonstrate that the incorporation of smart moment controller into the transversal direction of the machinery building can remarkably improve the structural safety subjected to strong seismic excitations.
