THE STUDY OF ROOF STRUCTURE SOLUTIONS FOR LARGE-SPAN HANGARS
The cost of steel roof structure in the large-span hangars can be as much as 20% of the costs of the entire project, so it is vital that the structural solution provides the minimum overall building cost. In this paper, firstly the principles of the structural solution for hangars are presented.The structural features of hangars are also demonstrated. Then, the main systems of roof structure for modem large-span hangar buildings used around the world at present are introduced, diversified aspects influenced the choice of roof structure solution are also discussed. Lastly, some key problems such as site limits, stiffness of the roof structure, and steelwork weight of the roof and construction conditions are discussed carefully. The conclusions in this paper provide useful consults for primary design of large-span hangar buildings.
