STUDY ON THE LATERAL LOADING BEHAVIOR OF PRETRESSED HIGH STRENGTH CONCRETE PIPE PILE IN LAYERED SOILS
The behavior of single prestressed high strength concrete (PHC) pipe pile in four foundation models (uniform silt soil, a sand layer in silt clay, uniform sand and a silt clay layer in sand) are analyzed through comparing the H-y curves of the pile and P-y curves of the soils at the different depth which generated from the 3D finite element. Results show that the different depths of the soil layer have the different affects on the behavior of the pile. The layering effects are mutual. Not only the upper layers affected by the lower layers, but the lower layer are also affected by the upper layers. The lateral resistance of the silt clay around the sand is increased, contrary; the lateral resistance of the sand around the silt clay is decreased. The article also analyzed the pile behavior in the foundation with a sand layer in silt clay through the parameter study.
