PROPERTIES OF HORIZONTALLY REINFORCED MASONRY WALLS UNDER LOCAL COMPRESSION

In this paper, 8 groups of local compression tests of horizontally reinforced masonry wall were conducted. The crack pattern, bearing capacity, failure modes and the cooperation performance of steel rod and mortar are analyzed based on experimental results. The test results indicate that the load bearing capacities of reinforced masonry are significantly improved. The failure process was also studied by numerical analysis based on sol,rare ANSYS. The brick and mortar are separately established in the numerical model and the stress distribution of the masonry was calculated. The estimated bearing capacities of numerical results are compared with experimental results and good agreements can be observed. The formula of bearing capacities of reinforced masonry wall under local compression was proposed.
