A NEW APPROACH FOR PREDICTING SHEAR CAPACITY OF SRC COLUMNS
A new approach for predicting the shear capacity of steel reinforced concrete columns is put forward, which employs the tensile strength of concrete for scaling the shear capacity of concrete and can be linked up with the shear capacity calculation of reinforced concrete columns in Code for Design of Concrete Structures (GB50010-2002) when the ,area of shape steel is down to zero. A parameter is also employed in the formula to take the interaction between concrete and shape steel into account. 65 specimens are employed to verify the formula, the comparison between experimental and theoretical calculation results illuminates that the formula can well evaluate the shear capacity of steel reinforced concrete columns. The formula can be applied to the steel reinforced concrete columns which possess the strength level of concrete various from C30 to C80 and can unify the shear capacity calculation of steel reinforced concrete columns with high strength concrete and normal strength concrete.
