DOUBLE-WEB VIERENDEEL TRUSSES AND SQUARE HOLLOW SECTION п-JOINTS
The concept of double-web planar trusses is proposed based on the bending moment distribution of Vierendeel trusses. The segment length of double-web Vierendeel trusses is less than their single-web counterpart thus reducing the bending moment of chords. The new truss system is advantageous for long spans where the required web size exceeds the maximum member size available.The ultimate load bearing capacity of unstiffened square hollow section п-joints are investigated by using inelastic nonlinear finite element method and uniform design approach.
