INFLUENCE OF THE CHARACTERISTIC VALUE OF STIRRUP REINFORCEMENT ON ALLOWABLE AXIAL LOAD RATIO FOR CONCRETE STRUCTURAL WALLS

Axial load ratio is a main factor affecting the seismic performance of concrete structural walls. However, current design codes in china specify allowable axial load ratio not considering the influences of ductility demand and the characteristic value of stirrup reinforcement in boundary elements. In this paper, the influence of the characteristic value of stirrup reinforcementλv on the displacement ductility ratio μ⊿ and allowable axial load ratio n, for concrete structural walls is studied.It is obtained for the relations among the ductility ratio, axial load ratio and the characteristic value of stirrup reinforcement. The results show that the increasing the characteristic value of stirrup reinforcement of the walls, the certain raising allowable axial load ratio. At last, allowable axial load ratio is proposed with various stirrup characteristic values in this paper; it is satisfied for the certain ductility demand.
