RESISTING SEISMIC BEHAVIOUR STUDY OF THREE NEW CONNECTION PROTOCOLS USED FOR SINGLE DIAGONAL ECCENTRICALLY BRACED STEEL FRAMES

The single diagonal eccentrically braced steel frame which the link connect column is an efficient structural system for seismic activity. Three new reinforced connections(adding fib, adding side-plate, adding cover-plate) are proposed for meeting the design demand of flexural capacity and energy dissipater. Some design details are also provided in the paper. The new protocols are studied by ANSYS comparing to the traditional connection. The results indicate that the new protocols can draw link yield away from column face, preclude yielding in the link in the region adjacent to the column, and have good deformation capacity and lateral stiffness. Some conclusions need to be validated.
