PARAMETRIC ANALYSIS OF MECHANICAL PROPERTIES FOR THE NEW TYPE BUCKLING RESTRAINED BRACE

The brace yield but not buckling under cyclic load is called buckling restrained braces (BRB), to achieve this purpose, the traditional BRB filled with concrete between the core section and outer tuber, but the detailing requirements of the BRB is complicated, so propose a new type BRB which install the lateral braces between the core section and outer tuber and do not stuffwith concrete.On the basis of the principles using the analytic method and finite element method with ANSYS soft-ware to study the key factor such as number of lateral brace, rigidity of outer tube, slenderness ratio, width-to-thickness ratio and critical stress, the results proved the new type BRB has the better mechanic characteristics and simple construction, and propose the design suggestion of the new type BRB.
