THE ELASTIC BUCKLING ANALYSIS OF THE COMPOSITE FRAMES CONSIDERING COMPOSITE ACTION

The composite frames composed of steel columns and composite beams have been widely used in tall structures. The stability problem is becoming increasingly important at the increasing of the height of these tall buildings. The stability considering the composite action of composite frames has been studied in this paper. Moreover, the modified effective length method about composite frames considering the composite action has been presented and its applicability has also been discussed. Also, the influence of various beam end and column end constrains have been especially considered, the influence of composite action and semi rigid joint on effective length of the frames column has been studied, and the difference between the modified method and traditional steel frame effective length method has been discussed. Above discussions indicate that after considering the steel-concrete composite action the frame buckling load has been discovered to obtain a bigger enhancement, traditional steel frame analysis method is conservative and an abbreviated.
