Numerical simulation of the earthquake precursors in the ionosphere which are caused by electric fields
According to the measurements of GPS signal delays the areas of raised and lowered TEC values which are formed in the ionosphere before strong earthquakes are observed. The vertical plasma transport under the action of zonal electric field can be one of possible mechanisms of formation of such disturbances in TEC. Namgaladze A.A. has offered a spatial picture of distribution of electric field potential necessary for it. For check of the stated hypothesis and research of the efficiency of the offered mechanism the numerical calculations with use of the model GSM TIP have been executed. The simulation results have revealed the consent with experimental data of TEC before strong earthquakes. The calculations of EEJ intensity and thermal plasma density in the external ionosphere have shown, that both variations of TEC, and EEJ and plasma density in the external ionosphere can be considered as precursors of earthquakes.
