Geoelectrical cross-section of Central Tien Shan and geodynamic implications
Geoelectrical cross-section of Central Tien Shan is recovered on the results of the inversion of tens prospecting and deep magnetotelluric (MT) and geomagnetic (MV) soundings collected by Research Station of Russian Academy of Sciences (RS RAS, Bishkek) at 700km long transect Naryn, crossing the orogen are implemented with a help of original complex of MT/MV data processing, analysis and inversion methods elaborated to overcome the difficulties of geoelectrics in the mountains. The important features of resolved geoelectric structure are: the low crustal conductive layer on the depth 40-50km (uprising in northern direction up to 35km with decreasing integral conductivity);sporadic upper crustal one on the depths of 8-15km; sub-vertical large-scale conductive zone in the upper and middle crust under Naryn Basin. All these features demonstrate general correlations with the latest seismic tomography results.Tien Shan is the unique area of modern intercontinental mountain building which was activated mainly due to Cenozoic India-Asian collision. The new data on the geoelectric structure of Central Tien Shan, being the focus of geodynamic activity, are interpreted in the terms of thermal, fluid and reological regimes of interiors and in the context of other geological-geophysical data put bounds on the hypotheses of its geodynamic evolution. They supply the evidences of possible viscose flow of the lithospheric material along the deep crustal conducting and partially melted layer, the vertical movements of crustal blocks along the revealed deep roots of the fault zones and seismogeneration in the vicinity of brittle-ductile transition level, marked by inhomogeneous upper-crustal conductive layer.
