Experiment study on evaluating old highway conditions using transient surface wave
In this paper,transient surface wave was used to evaluate the conditions of old highway which the layer was hard in top while it was soft in lower,the statistic relationship among surface wave velocity (SWV),compact degree of old highway and standard penetration testing (SPT) number was established through improving the sensors to adapt to layer conditions,using the frequency dispersion data of base order and high order modal to forward and inverse the old highway SWV along the depth through the contrast of maintenance information and drilling test.The experimental results show that the information of base and high order modal should be extracted simultaneously to analyze the frequency dispersion data in the highway structure.The base order modal characteristics reflect the parameters of low velocity layer while the high order modal characteristics reflect the parameters of high velocity layer.It has a good correlation among weighted layered SWV,compact degree of old highway,and the number of SPT.The research results were carried out to evaluate the old Hu-Ning Highway.The quality criteria is as follows: the old highway is in bad condition when the SWV is less than 205.9m/s;it is in less bad condition when the SWV is between 205.9m/s and 256.8m/s;it is in middle condition when SWV is between 256.8m/s and 357.1m/s;it is in good condition when SWV is greater than 357.1m/s.
