Separation of Gallium and Aluminum from Bayer Solution by Solvent Extraction
Solvent extraction of gallium from Bayer solution of Jajarm Alumina plant was investigated using Kelex100 as extractant. Taguchi experimental design method was used in order to optimize the separation factor of Ga and Al. Optimum conditions were obtained as follows:Temperatuer: 65℃, volume ratio of aqueous phase to organic phase: 3.0:1.0, process time: 60min and organic phase containing 15vol.% Kelex100, 5vol.% isodecanol in kerosene. In this conditions,74% gallium and 0.3% aluminum was extracted and separation factor was obtained 828.63.
