FEA ON LOADING CAPACITY OF LARGE TONNAGE COMPRESSION-SHEAR PAD BEARING USED IN BENGBU BRIDGE OF TIANJIN HAIHE RIVER
The pad bearing is a significant component for bridges, of which the loading capacity will directly affect the service performance and life of the bridges. Therefore, researches on the loading capacity of bridge bearings are very important for the design and choice of different types. There is a more and more widespread application of elastomeric bearings in bridges recently, but the research on bearings is comparatively limited for numerous different types of products. In this paper, the powerful finite element analysis software ANSYS is adopted to simulate the load bearing performance of a large tonnage compression-shear beating, which is used in the project of Bengbu Bridge of Tianjin Haihe River, in elastic stage. The distribution of internal stress and deformation of the beating under different types of loads are obtained, and the results are verified by the tests. From the results, a ringed deformation occurred in the cover plate of the bearing, and the total deformation of the bearing is in the range of admissible control. The loading capacity could satisfy the design requirements and the FEA method could simulate the experiment procedure well. At last, some design suggestions are proposed for the design of practical projects.
