A Trial for Introducing 6-element Impedance in Magnetotelluric method and its application in DPR of Korea
In magnetotelluric exploration (MT), impedance tensor is recognized as the main parameter from which all other parameters are determined including apparent resistivity, phase, skewness, etc. Whereas the former MT impedance Z has been defined as the form of 2×2 matrix, for improving the quality of MT data, we introduce a new MT impedance in the form of 2×3 matrix, called 6-elements impedance, in this paper. We propose the definition of 6-elements impedance and briefly describe its some characteristics and determination techniques in the comparison with the conventional impedance tensor Z. Furthermore, we explain the necessity of the proposed method and demonstrate its applicability by some field examples conducted in DPRK.
