Research on Multipurpose Utilization of Baiyunebo Ironmine Rich Potassium Slate

The potential influence of rich potassium slate on environment by long term stacking is discussed in this paper through describing the resource and the present excavation of it in Baiyunebo Iron mine of Baotou Iron & Steel (Group) Co., Ltd. Through the study on mineral phase analysis, chemistry analysis and configuration analysis, the final floatation process for separating all kinds of minerals in the rich potassium slate is established, and the multipurpose utilizations of all kinds of minerals are discussed with the aim of multipurpose utilization. With about 90% of the rich potassium slate ground to -200 mesh, all kinds of minerals, such as potassium feldspar, biotite, pyrite and quartz etc. are separated by floatation process. The multipurpose utilization process of floated potassium feldspar is established by studying potassium feldspar limestone sinter, sodium carbonate sinter, acid decomposes and alkali decomposition procedure. Aluminium oxide, potassium sulfate,white carbon black, sodium fluosilicate and other products are obtained by the decomposition processes of sodium carbonate, wet acid as well as alkali. In the meantime kali salt, aluminium oxide,cement and other products are obtained by limestone sinter process. As the result, all the compositions in rich potassium slate are utilized effectively by analysing iron pyrites, quartz and biotite obtained, and the reasonable utilizations of those minerals are realized.
