Processing of Sarband Andalusite Deposit
Andalusite, silimanite and kyanite are polymorphs of aluminosilicate known as kyanite group.Minerals of this group are used in refractory. Sarband andalusite deposit is located in Markazi province in Iran. Mineralogical studies showed that the main minerals of this sample are andalusite (5%~10%), mica, quartz and feldspar. Processing of the samples was carried out using two sizes, i.e.+500 μm and -500 μm. In the processing of +500 μm scrabble test was carried out on -4750 +500μm and -2380 +500 μm. For -500+300 μm shaking table and magnetic separation were applied.For -300 μm fraction, flotation was carried out. The results of this tests showed that the processing of Shazand andalusite was not possible, because silica and iron impurities were diffused inside the andalusite mineral grains.
