Research on the Dynamic and Equilibrium Relationship between Patent Number and Economic Growth

Based on the Henans data of GDP and the patents from 1985 to 2006, the authors investigate the relationship between the increasing ratio of GDP and the number of patents with Cointegration analysis and Error Correction Model. After detailed analysis, a conclusion can be made that there is a relationship of a long-term dynamic equilibrium between the increasing rate of the Henans GDP and the corresponding patent number; In the short term, when lagging behind for three years, each can have significant effects on the other. Finally, the paper presents a number of channels for patent industrialization so as to promote the economic developments in Henan.
