Resource Utilization Strategies for Pig Production Cyclic Economy System in Agricultural Regions of South China
Due to the scale efficiency, favorable breeding conditions in South China and the encouragement of government, the Specialized Pig Breeding Households are developing rapidly. The scale pig production has brought more and faster comparative benefits to farmers than planting in agricultural regions. However, the severe pollution of cumulated breeding wastes is accompanied with the rapidly growing pig numbers. Therefore, the government has invested largely to build anaerobic digesters for farmers, and encouraged them to use anaerobic digestion technology to dispose of the pig production excreta in recent years. But investigation shows most of farms in rural areas discharge the residual product of anaerobic digestion directly due to the lack of consumers and funds, which has caused severe environmental pollution, and also endangered the development of farms themselves. In this paper, we have constructed a practical pig farming excreta recycle treatment model via a case study of the Taihua pig farming cyclic economy system, and have conducted simulations with its system dynamics model. The results show that Resource Utilization Strategies of anaerobic digester effluent from irrigating water, developing the winter fallow cropland and the hilly land, and governments fund and technology supporting may help shift the system toward sustainability.
