Research on Project Management Competencies

The purpose of the study is to identify which project management competencies are most important when designing job descriptions and promoting project managers. Professional project managers are surveyed about their perceptions regarding the importance of selecting project management competencies in relation to designing job descriptions, hiring and promoting project managers. Additionally, a comparison is done between the importance of hard skill competencies and soft skill competencies. The results of this study show that there are the five most important competencies including in project management job descriptions and promoting project managers. This study also strongly indicates that soft skill competencies are more important than hard skill competencies in job descriptions, hiring and promoting project managers.
