Tangshan Transformation from A Resource-dependent City to A Sustainable city
Nature resource abundance leads to slower economic growth rate in local city; this paper aims at improving our understanding of the relationships between nature resource reservation and economic growth by analyzing a specific example: Tangshan, China, an important traditional industrial base. The focuses of this paper are on why and how a traditional industrial city should follow an effective way to upgrade its industrial transformation. The paper discusses the characters for a resourced-based city, proposes a model about how to exploit non-regenerating resource and indicated that the only way for a resource-based city to pursue sustainable development is to upgrade its economic structure. This paper also studies how to transform Tangshans economic structure practically.
