The Inventory Probabilistic Risk Analysis of Bullwhip Effect in Supply Chain
The bullwhip effect occurs when the fluctuations of demand order are amplified as they move up in the supply chain. It requires a higher inventory level of the upstream suppliers compared to that of downstream suppliers, and may damage the competitiveness of the supply chain. Considering that the occurrence of demand orders follow a random distribution, this article presents a random model of probability to forecast the higher risk of the inventory. Countermeasures are suggested to reduce the bullwhip effect on the basis of the analysis of its reasons.
