Performence Evaluation for the Chinese Port Logistics
The aim of this paper is to assess and increase the performance of Chinese port logistics to sustain the development of Chinese port economy, which is predicted to undergo further strong expansion in the 21st century. The assessment is based on the analysis of the current state and problems of the Chinese port logistics. China has already achieved the preconditions to develop port logistics; however China still needs to do its best to solve some problems. In this paper we used AHP and Factor Analysis methods to identify main discriminating variables and measure the degrees of logistics efficiency for the Chinese ports, and ranked the selected container seaports according to their performance degrees. All the statistical date in this study was taken from the Chinese official statistics yearbooks. The results of our study can be used as reference for the Chinese ports to make strategic plans.
