Barriers of Green Supply Chain Management: An Analysis with Interpretive Structural Modeling
With the increasing environmental awareness of stakeholders, the corporate needs to have explicit environmental consideration and incorporate it into its supply chain strategy and operations. The green supply chain management (GSCM) is considered as an effective tool to improve the environmental performance throughout the supply chain. However, various obstacles hinder the application of GSCM. To overcome them, it is important to identify and analyze these barriers, understanding their structure and interactions. The paper first reviews the barriers of GSCM implementation, and then uses Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) to identify and summarize the mutual relationships among these barriers. Based on the analysis, the critical barriers can be extracted and dealt with in a proactive manner by the corporate.
